What is the Schlow Library Foundation?
The Schlow Library Foundation (formerly known as the Friends of Schlow Library) is made up of community volunteers who give their time because they love the Library. The Foundation provides crucial funding support for the programs and services at Schlow Library. This support is made possible by donations of all sizes to the Foundation by community members.
The role of the Schlow Library Foundation also includes important advocacy, financial investment, and volunteer support for the Library, with an eye towards a sustainable future.
The Foundation is working to ensure that the Library services you cherish will continue without interruption through fundraising projects and outreach programs.
Donations to the Schlow Library Foundation are tax-deductible and make an immediate impact in your community. All donations made to the Foundation go directly to support the Library.

Next Up In the Garden Renovation
This week, renovation started on our Readers' Garden. The space was cleared and a trench was dug to allow for the installation of a ramp from the Children's Activity Room. Next week, holes will be dug for fencing footers and concrete will be poured for the ramp and the fence footers.
Garden Redesign
Big changes are in store for our Readers' Garden! Work has begun on a multi-phased reimagining of the garden space. This phase of the redesign will include the installation of a ramp from the Children's Activity Room, the installation of a patio that can be used for Library programs, new fencing to keep everyone safe in the space, and lots of new landscaping providing different colors, textures, and scents to the garden. This phase of the project was made possible by a generous donor.
A future phase of the garden renovation will include the installation of bird and butterfly houses, and various activities and objects to encourage fun and exploration.

Cheers to Art
The Schlow Library Foundation will hold their next Cheers to Art fundraiser at the Arena at Northland Bowl on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 6pm. The cost is $15 per painter and includes all of your supplies. To register email northlandbowl@northlandbowl.com. Registration is required!
Fall Fund Drive 2025
Our biggest fundraiser of the year, the Fall Fund Drive will launch in mid-October and run through early 2026. Funds raised during this annual campaign support programs and the purchase of loanable materials (both physical and virtual) added to our collection. Loanable materials are those available to be checked out by patrons. You have the power to make a difference in your community. Any amount is appreciate and helpful. Watch your mailbox for a Fall Fund Drive mailing or pick one up at any of our service desks.
Bingo Night at Schlow!
Join Schlow for an evening of fun and prizes on Friday, October 24 from 7pm-8:30pm as we host bingo night!
We'll host 8-10 games over the night. Cards are 3 for $3, or 6 for $5 (cash preferred, please). We hope to see you there!
Pre-registration is recommended, either online or via phone at 814.237.6236. Players must be 18+.
Costumes welcome!

What does my donation fund?
Donations to the Schlow Library Foundation provide funding for ALL of the programs and services that Schlow Library provides to our patrons. Storytimes, Book Clubs, and special events; are just a few of the programs funded by donations. Thank you!
When can I make a donation?
We welcome donations any time. The two main publicized fundraisers are Centre Gives in May and our annual year-end appeal in October. Donations are accepted at any time of year.
Is there a yearly membership?
No, unlike the previous Friends of Schlow Library, the Schlow Library Foundation does not have a membership program.
