Schlow to School FAQ

Schlow Centre Region Library provides delivery to school libraries during the school year for students from:

  • SCASD schools:
    • State College High School 
    • Middle schools: Mount Nittany and Park Forest
    • Elementary schools: Corl Street, Spring Creek, Radio Park, Park Forest Elementary, Mount Nittany Elementary, Ferguson Township, Easterly Parkway Elementary, and Gray's Woods Elementary
    • Delta
  • State College Friends School.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the library offering delivery to school students?

Library staff believe in equitable and easy access to educational material at all grade levels. The Library’s collection of material will be made available to students to promote literacy and to encourage a love of reading.

How does a student qualify for delivery service?

All students attending the above schools are eligible for participation in this program.

Who sets up the account?

The application must be filled out and signed by the student and a parent/guardian with financial responsibility for the student. It must be returned to the school librarian who will arrange future deliveries from Schlow Centre Region Library.

Who is responsible for the materials?

Participating students and the parent/guardians are responsible for all material checked out on the student’s card. School librarians and Schlow Centre Region Library make every effort to insure that materials are delivered in a timely manner to students.

How does the Schlow to School account work?

  • Use your Schlow Library card number to login and request items via Schlow Library's catalog: https://search.schlowlibrary.org

  • Items are delivered 2 times a week during the school year to your school.

    • No deliveries during breaks.

  • Items check out for 4 weeks and should be returned by the due date.

    • Items that are not requested may renew 2 times for 3 weeks each.

  • There are no fines, but the students and parent/guardians are responsible for overdue items or damaged materials.

  • These special items will not be delivered to schools:

    • Video games and video game consoles (Switch, etc.)

    • Tonies and Tonieboxes

    • Board games, kits, and toys

    • Museum passes and musical instruments

    • Other equipment (Hotspots, etc.)

    • If you request any of these special items, please come to Schlow Library to pick them up.

  • After you sign up for Schlow to School Library Delivery, the program continues through one school year. Summer ends the contract period. At that time, library accounts will return to standard loan periods/fines. Everyone must fill out a new participation agreement at the beginning of a new school year.

Can I still go to Schlow Library and use my library card there?

Yes! Any reserves that have not been sent to the school can be picked up at Schlow Library.

After I apply how quickly will deliveries start?

Deliveries normally begin a week after applying.

Where can a student get an application to participate?

Please ask your school librarian about applying.

What special items are excluded from delivery?

  • Video games and video game consoles (Switch, etc.)

  • Tonies and Tonieboxes

  • Board games

  • Museum passes and musical instruments

  • Other equipment (Hotspots, etc.)

If you request any of these special items, please come to Schlow Library to pick them up.
