Unearth a Story - Summer Reading 2026 - is here! Registration began on Monday, May 18, and the program began on Monday, June 1. Join us for another great summer!

Every year, babies through adults are invited to participate in Schlow Library's Summer Reading program. Earn chances at fantastic prizes, attend exciting events, and read to your heart's content - all summer long!

  • We are where you are...even during Summer Reading! Our online system - reading.schlowlibrary.org - can be accessed anywhere, anytime.
  • Registration begins in mid-May, and programs begin in June, but you can join the fun anytime through mid-August.
  • No matter when you register, any reading and activities completed on or after June 1 count toward the program!
  • Summer Reading ends in mid-August. 

Babies to Age 2

Read and log 50 books to earn a prize book and a chance to win one of our grand prizes! Keep going with our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

Ages 3 - 12

Our program has three main parts - participate in one, two, or all three! The more tickets you earn, the more chances you have to win prizes in our random drawings. Learn more from Paula and Katie in this year's Ages 3-12 Summer Reading video, which will be shown to local elementary school students!

  1. SummerQuest - Read books from 10 different genres and do 10 activities, divided into 5 pairs to spell QUEST! Earn 10 tickets for each letter you complete. Finish all 5 pairs to spell QUEST and earn a prize book.
  2. Daily Reading - Earn a ticket for every day that you read at least 20 minutes! Read every day for 3 weeks in a row to earn 25 bonus tickets.
  3. Weekly Pop-up Challenges - Visit our website every week to discover a new challenge! Complete each challenge to receive its secret code and earn 10 tickets. Pop-up challenges must be completed the week they are posted. Finish all 10 to earn 25 bonus tickets!

Find all of the details in our Summer 2026 Children's Calendar. Want to order a sheet of 80 stickers with your child's name and phone number pre-printed on them for $1.00? You can do that right here, and pay when you pick up at the Patron Services desk in the lobby.

The last day to log and earn tickets is Friday, August 7. The last day to pick up tickets and place them in prize boxes is Wednesday, August 12. The final prize drawing will take place the morning of Thursday, August 13 before the library opens.

Ages 12 - 17

Complete online and in-person quests for more chances to win! Quests this year feature reading challenges, an in-library scavenger hunt, and more! Teens record their time spent listening or reading.  No need to record the title and author this year.
